An Introduction to Step Ahead

"Give a man a.fish., He'll eat for a day. Give a woman microcredit, she, her husband, her children and her extended family will eat for a lifetime. "-.Bono.

When Kendra asked me to search for mission opportunities in Southeast Asia, I myself turned to. missionfinder.org.. Utilizing their search function, which lists results by compatibility with the selected vocation, I found Step Ahead under the Business section.

As you can learn from their excellent website,. stepaheadmed.org., Step Ahead promotes development of the local community through providing: assistance to women and children at risk, micro-finance loans and business counseling, instruction in the English language, and offering various skills-based seminars.

From their location in the beautiful Christian community of Khao Lak and perfect compatibility with Kendra's personal mission, to the genuine sincerity, enthusiasm, and humility of CEO John Quinley, I knew that we'd found the perfect place to serve God in Southeast Asia. If you would like, please take a moment to peruse Step Ahead's website and learn more about their mission and how they are serving God through assisting others.

As Kendra and I prepare for our journey, we're excited to share further about the specifics of our roles in Thailand and where we'll be serving. We just wanted to introduce you to the organization that's been kind enough to allow us to serve God with them.

-Derek.

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.".
-Philippians 2:3-4.

  1. As I look back on how far you two have come, as a married couple, serving God in numerous capacities, my heart is overflowing w/ gratefulness & love for both of you & your kindheartedness. May the Lord continue to bless each and every trip that you take to further His kingdom & for His glory.
It was such a pleasure to be able to come over there & visit you & to treat you to a trip to Singapore for your 1st anniversary, in May, 2010. We are glad that we can tag along, whenever it's possible. Keep the trips comin', and we'll be able to join you again, when you least expect it!

    With much love & respect,

    Mom
